Our Expert Opinion
Description
Description
A smooth satin cotton paper for photographs with deep blacks and gentle tonal transitions.
Epson Legacy Platine brings a traditional silver halide F-surface look to a 100% cotton fine art base. Its smooth satin coating provides a photographic presentation, while the microporous ink-receptive layer is designed for deep blacks, a wide colour gamut and gradual tonal transitions. It is a useful option when you want some surface sheen without moving to a high-gloss paper.
At a glance
- Smooth satin surface on a 100% cotton base.
- 314 gsm weight and 17 mil thickness.
- No optical brightening agents.
- Acid- and lignin-free; pH buffered.
Where it works well
- Colour and black-and-white fine art photographs.
- Photographic portfolios and exhibition prints.
- Images where smooth tonal transitions and a satin surface suit the presentation.

Questions before you print
How does Platine differ from Legacy Fibre?
Platine has a smooth satin surface. Legacy Fibre is matte. Compare the papers when surface reflections, the paper white and the presentation of dark tones matter to your image.
Will this paper work with my printer?
Check the exact printer model, supported media thickness and loading method, not just the paper dimensions. Rolls also require the correct roll handling and core support. Tell Tricera your printer model and chosen size if you need help checking suitability.
Which ICC profile and media setting should I use?
Use the settings and ICC profile specified for the exact printer, ink and paper combination. Epson provides profiles through its printer support downloads. Follow the profile instructions and apply colour management only once in your print workflow.
Does archival paper guarantee a particular print life?
No. Print life depends on the ink and paper combination, lighting, display, handling and storage. Follow Epson’s media guidance and protect finished prints from surface damage. A general paper specification is not a print-life guarantee for every printing system.
