Our Expert Opinion
Description
Description
A subtly textured cotton matte paper inspired by traditional artist’s etching papers.
Epson Legacy Etching combines a 100% cotton base with a lightly textured matte surface. The texture adds a fine art paper character without the heavily textured look of Legacy Textured. Epson’s microporous coating is designed to deliver rich blacks, a wide colour gamut and gentle tonal gradations for photographs and artwork reproductions.
At a glance
- Subtly textured matte finish.
- 100% cotton, without optical brightening agents.
- 314 gsm weight and 20 mil thickness.
- Acid- and lignin-free; pH buffered.
Where it works well
- Artwork reproductions with an etching-paper presentation.
- Fine art photographs where a subtle texture is desirable.
- Exhibition and portfolio prints on a substantial cotton base.

Questions before you print
How does Etching differ from Legacy Textured?
Etching has a subtler surface texture. Legacy Textured offers a more pronounced texture on a mould-made base. Compare them when deciding how much the paper surface should contribute to the finished image.
Will this paper work with my printer?
Check the exact printer model, supported media thickness and loading method, not just the paper dimensions. Rolls also require the correct roll handling and core support. Tell Tricera your printer model and chosen size if you need help checking suitability.
Which ICC profile and media setting should I use?
Use the settings and ICC profile specified for the exact printer, ink and paper combination. Epson provides profiles through its printer support downloads. Follow the profile instructions and apply colour management only once in your print workflow.
Does archival paper guarantee a particular print life?
No. Print life depends on the ink and paper combination, lighting, display, handling and storage. Follow Epson’s media guidance and protect finished prints from surface damage. A general paper specification is not a print-life guarantee for every printing system.
