Our Expert Opinion
Description
Description
A smooth, bright white cotton paper for detailed photography, fine art reproductions and limited edition prints.
Epson Hot Press Bright combines a smooth matte surface with a 100% cotton base. It is a strong choice when you want fine detail, rich blacks and a bright white background without a glossy finish. Choose from cut sheets and rolls to suit your printer and the size of your finished work.
At a glance
- Smooth matte finish: a fine art surface without the pronounced texture of a cold press paper.
- Bright white base: suited to work where a bright paper white is part of the intended look.
- 100% cotton: acid- and lignin-free paper for fine art printing.
- Different sheet and roll weights: 330 gsm for cut sheets; 300 gsm for rolls.
- Seven formats: from 8.5″ × 11″ sheets to 60″ × 50′ rolls. Match the format to your printer before ordering.
Where it works well
- Fine art photographs where a smooth matte presentation is preferred.
- Illustrations and artwork reproductions where small details matter.
- Limited edition prints, portfolios and work intended for framing.
Paper choice is part of the image-making process. A smooth, bright white paper and a textured or warmer paper can give the same file quite different presentations. Ask us for help comparing the options for your work.

Questions before you print
Will Hot Press Bright work with my printer?
Check your exact printer model, supported media thickness and loading method as well as the paper’s dimensions. Rolls also require appropriate roll handling. A printer that accepts a sheet size does not necessarily accept a roll of the same width. Tell us your printer model and the format you want, and we can help check suitability.
Which ICC profile and media setting should I use?
Use the profile and media settings specified for your printer, ink and Hot Press Bright paper combination. Epson provides ICC profiles through its printer support downloads. Follow the instructions supplied with the profile, and avoid applying colour management twice in your printing workflow. Contact us if you need help identifying the right setup.
How does it differ from Hot Press Natural?
Both offer a smooth matte cotton surface. Choose Bright when you prefer a brighter paper white; consider Hot Press Natural when a warmer base better suits your image. Our comparison below helps you judge the alternatives.
How does it differ from Cold Press Bright?
Hot Press Bright has a smooth surface. Cold Press Bright has a more pronounced texture, which may be desirable for certain artwork reproductions. Choose according to how much you want the paper’s texture to contribute to the finished print.
Can I print on both sides?
Use the designated printable surface and follow Epson’s packaging instructions. High opacity does not mean a paper is coated for printing on both sides. If you are making a book or another double-sided project, contact us so we can help select an appropriate medium.
How should I handle the paper and finished prints?
Avoid touching the printable surface; handle the paper by its edges or use clean cotton gloves. Follow the media’s drying instructions before stacking, packaging or framing prints, and protect the surface from rubbing. Long-term print life depends on the ink, display and storage conditions as well as the paper.
